Ah, Dame Edna. One of my favorite comediennes. Her one man show ranks as one of the funniest ever on Broadway. Last summer, as I was developing sketches of the Dame, Hurricane Irene was making the news. And that's when the premise hit me: What if Dame Edna commissioned me to paint her official portrait? She wanted it to be lovely, perfect in every way for all her "Possums to relish her superstardom!" But at the last minute a hurricane happens and that's when I caught her expression. To me it's the perfect comedic moment for Dame Edna and it captures her hilarious attitude. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it.
