First Place in the San Diego Fair!!
Last night my oil painting "Salad Daze" won First Place in the San Diego Fair. It was a thrilling evening, and a bit overwhelming for someone so new to the world of painting. The show opens today at the San Diego Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and is in the Turf Club. It's a wonderful show and there is alot of great art on display. Everyone who was juried into the show should be proud. Good work, everyone!

Friends of La Jolla Library
Today was the Artists' Reception at the La Jolla Library for their new show, One Subject Photo Show. All photo images were of the La Jolla Library. I had 3 pieces juried in and at today's opening reception this piece was the first (and so far only) work to sell. It is a surprisingly wonderful show and I encourage everyone in the area to see it. Lovely images. I'll be donating my proceeds to the Friends of La Jolla Library. This is the first Photography Art Show I've ever entered, so I'm delighted that it has been such a positive experience.

A Head Too Crowded
"A Head Too Crowded" This is my recent self-portrait, a digital painting done in Photoshop. Friends and relatives have suggested that I do a self-portrait, but I've resisted, not wanting to dote. But my final assignment in a recent Digital Painting Class at Mesa College was to do a self-portrait...so I was cornered. In the end, I had great fun. I surrounded myself with actors/characters I've painted over the past 12 months, so I'm in grand company. I was less than flattering to many of these people, so I figured I had to be willing to jab myself, too. It was a fun experience.

First Place Winner
Yesterday the San Diego Portrait Society honored my new painting "The Burger Queen" with First Place. I can't wipe the smile from my face. In a few weeks I'll be attending the conference at the National Portrait Society in Philadelphia and I will be able to hold my head a little higher. Thank you San Diego Portrait Society!

The Burger Queen
This is my newest piece, The Burger Queen. Oil on canvas: 24"x36". This was much fun to create as I had to invent character and put the pieces together in Photoshop. I then painted the composition I created in Photoshop. This is the third piece in a series: "The Ladies Who Lunch". It will debut at the Artwalk San Diego on April 28 and 29. Come visit us at booth #594 between Date and State Streets in Little Italy, downtown San Diego.
